The EU Commission has released mandatory legislation regarding the phasing out of fluorinated extinguishing agents.

On the 3rd October 2025 Commission regulation (EU) 2025/1988 was published which means that no new portable fire extinguishers containing  PFAS can be sold after 23 October 2026. 

Extinguishers containing PFAS that are already in the field, will need to be removed from service before 31 December 2030.
