We are recognized in the UK fire trade as being the first choice for small and medium sized enterprises to turn to for help and support.
Today we represent over 200 members and welcome new members all year round.
Our goal is to ensure the UK-FA is friendly, helpful, inexpensive, providing confidence and or straightforward no nonsense advice!
We believe this website is a valuable resource for Members, fellow Fire Trade Professionals or consumers looking for confidence in obtaining advice, fire-fighting equipment, fire prevention or protection systems or solutions, routine maintenance or servicing or training and education
If you design, install or maintain automatic fire sprinkler systems you might want to read the Public Consultation of BS EN 12845-1 Fixed firefighting systems - Automatic sprinkler systems. - Part 1: Design, installation and maintenance.
Members interested in active fire protection, are invited to offer comments to BSI on the review of BS EN 12845-1 before the 8 February 2022 deadline at Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems.
Kind regards,
Alan Palmer (UK-FA Secretary)
If you conduct fire risk assessments the FIA’s own Technical Bulletin provides an explanation as to why BSI have permanently withdrawn PAS79-2 the guidance document on conducting residential fire risk assessments.
This leaves a big question as to where future guidance will come from.
If you are an IFSM member you will already be aware that they have taken the initiative of writing to the CEO of BSI objecting to their move and to date they have not received any definitive reply other than they are reviewing it! Credit goes to both the IFSM and FIA in the efforts that they have made and are continuing to take in this matter.
Kind regards,
Alan Palmer (UK-FA Secretary)
