The end of discounted BSI Standards.

We have been contacted by BSi advising us that although we were a BSi member this did not allow us to buy standards and pass these on at the significantly discounted prices to our members.

I pointed out that this was not made clear in their membership application process and that other fire trade associations have been doing this for years!  No exceptions are going to be made and our membership fee has been graciously refunded!

I have been assured that this practice will no longer be allowed by any of the trade associations.  Regrettably the only way for members to now get reduced cost BSi standards is to join BSi in their own right which for a small fire trade company turning over less than £1M will cost £161+VAT a year.

This seems to be knee jerk reaction by BSi to plug a previously unforeseen loophole that completely wrecks their official distribution channels.  We want to ensure even handedness so if you find other associations still offering this service let me know!

This is highly inconvenient just as BS5306 part 3:2009 is about to be released!
