  CHAIRMANS INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the newly formed UK Fire Association. It is an exciting time to be in the fire protection industry and I am enjoying being involved with my colleagues running the UK Fire Association. My thanks go to Perry Leaver who put so much time last year into establishing this organisation.

From the feedback we are receiving, the fire industry has long been waiting an association like this! We are going to build this association using every ones knowledge and experience. I alone have over 30 years experience within the fire industry – so imagine what we can achieve if we all pool our expertise and experience together. We want to assemble a regionally represented Steering Group so that varying factors affecting business in the different parts of the UK can be taken into consideration.

Ultimately we want to help members who want up to date technical support and industry news that affects them. The support will be available to help members wanting to digress into new markets that compliment the one(s) they are already in e.g. helping a fire alarms company move into extinguishers or residential fire sprinkler systems or dry risers or fire risk assessments, etc.

Join us now, then attend a meeting, read the emails and be proud to have the UK Fire Association logo on the bottom of your paperwork, I am. I will be pleased to receive your news, views and ideas at chairman@uk-fa.org.

Membership costs just £200 per annum, the joining fee of £35 is being temporarily waived until 1st May 2010. BAFE Scheme SP101 accredited companies and members of FIA, IFEDA and BFC will be accepted through the fast track joining process without needing to go through auditing (however we do reserve the right to audit any prospective member). Companies that have recently resigned membership of one of these trade associations may still qualify for fast track membership contact the Secretary for information.

Chairman
